Team Shoots 9-Under 61 In Opening Round At Holiday Valley

ELLICOTTVILLE – Twelve teams are within four shots of the overall lead following the opening round of the 45th annual Italian-American Charity Golf Tournament at Holiday Valley Resort on Thursday.

The best round was turned in by the team of Paul Mole and Steve Anderson, who fired a net best-ball 9-under par 61.

Three teams are one shot back following rounds of 62 – Anthony Peppy-Reid Van Every, Nick Trussalo-Kyle Hocking and Frank Baggiano-Bill Emerson – while seven teams are two shots back and one team trails by four.

Shooting 63s were Dennis Palermo-Berni Auer, Gregg Pietrocarlo-Hans Auer, Joe Frangione-Tom Hurtack, John Trussalo-Tim Magnuson, Peter Morgante-Jon Gren Jr., Joe Ribaudo-Scott Crist and James Panebianco-Salim Sarvaiya. Firing a 65 was John Sirianno-Chris Elliott.

All these teams are in the First Flight.
There are seven flights and the overall champion and runner-up can come from any flight.
The second round will be played today with the final round on Saturday.
