UPMC Chautauqua through the benevolence of the Italian American Golf Charity is expanding their Women’s Imaging Department adding a third Hologic 3Dimensions Mammography System with integrated AI powered analytics. Hologic is a world leader in breast cancer screening technology providing the highest resolution 3D images to accelerate screening and analysis. This cutting-edge science has increased accuracy, detecting 20% to 65% more invasive breast cancers than 2D alone. The curved compression surface mirrors the shape of the breast designed to improve visibility of fine details for greater diagnostic confidence. These architectural and analytic improvements improve the patient comfort and overall experience while delivering clarity, contrast and detail at a lower dose. The breast service line has experienced year over year growth in patient volumes with an overall increase of 6.3 percent from 2023 to 2024. The availability of screening appointments and the ability to provide access to immediate diagnostic care is a critical component of supporting the health and wellbeing of our community. Therefore, this strategic initiative is alignment with the goals and objectives of ensuring the provision of timely, quality screening and diagnostic breast care in Chautauqua County.
